Crackdown on Aggressive Timeshare Marketing Practices The Belize Tourism Board
heard one
complaint too many about the

Curbing Guatemala's "Culture of Violence" Canadian police and law officials are
working with their Guatemalan
counterparts to improve crime investigation techniques in Latin
America's most dangerous city. There are in Guatemala City, on average,
10 to 15 murders every day. It is the most dangerous city in Latin
America, according to Mr.
Hunt, with almost 5,000 homicides annually in a population of just 2
million, about twice the size of Canada's capital city. Though there is
no comparison, Ottawa reported 10 murders in 2004, and across the
country of 33 million people there was a total of 622. About 172 of
those homicides were by firearm. More

Private firms 'can help climate' The private sector will solve the problem of
climate change, according to the US Energy Secretary, Samuel Bodman. He told the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean
Development and Climate that the job of governments was to help
businesses take up clean technologies. Critics
say the talks are a way to avoid signing up to binding targets like
those in the Kyoto Protocol. More
