Belize could produce diesel fuel, using a centrifugal separator
Belizean crude is of a very high grade, containing approximately 45% fuel of diesel quality, Briceno said
The Belize Natural Energy was investigating the possibility of bringing a centrifugal separator unit that would top off this lighter fuel for sale to Belizean motorists. The remaining portion of heavier crude could still be shipped to outside buyers. He agreed while the company is presently flaring off the natural gas produced from its two wells, in the future if the volume of gas is sufficient, the company would also be looking at the possibility of converting the natural gas into electricity, to be sold to the national grid. San Pedro artists release music CD
Most Belizeans have a tendency to take on some pretty overwhelming odds, determined to get what they want in life... and our aspiring artists are no exception. Tonight we introduce you to a trio from San Pedro who are getting their feet wet in the local music scene. David Aguilar, Nestor Rivero, and Alex Noralez are three close friends who decided three years ago to get together and do what they love best...sing. Today, the group which hails from San Pedro, Ambergris Caye is promoting their second album that the young men say is even better than the first. More

Peopling Belize
While the children in Belize’s primary schools are now being taught about the culture and history of the country’s indigenous peoples, the Maya and the Garifuna, not so much has been written about other ethnic groups who came to Belize and enriched its development and culture. George St. John Robinson, a University of Montana languages professor who was born in Belize, has endeavoured to remedy this deficiency in his new book “Peopling Belize” As Robinson explained when he launched his book at the House of Culture on Wednesday morning, January 11, it tells the story of many other groups who came and settled in Belize, who they were and why they came. Two to tango: US Caribbean relations
Madeleine Albright, the former US Secretary of State in President Bill Clinton’s Democratic administration posed a pertinent question to President George W Bush on Thursday 5th January. According to the New York Times, Ms Albright, asked the President whether his foreign policy team with the Iraq war “taking up all their energy” hadn’t let US relations with Latin America suffer by “benign neglect”. The reference to Latin America is relevant to the Caribbean because the two areas are linked both by international organisations and the US State Department. In reality, Latin America and the English-speaking Caribbean are very different. They are different in size of territory and population, in culture, in language, in history and even in their foreign policy objectives in the global community. But, the truth is that Ms Albright is right, the Bush administration has neglected both Latin American and the Caribbean at a high political level. More
