Ambergris Caye, San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the next 24 hrs: Cloudy to overcast today and tonight. Midday Temperatures will reach around 78 degrees F. Occasional showers will develop through late afternoon and early tomorrow. Winds will blow westerly to northwesterly at 15 to 25 kts. year and a half ago when Milo Paz
was president, he submitted a needs or wish list to medical doctors and
foundations, and on January 1, Mr. Paz received the good news that a
shipment is due to be dispatched shortly and destined to the Ministry
of Health for the San Pedro Lions Poly Clinic. Mr. Paz has received the
summary of packing list which is several pages long and which is enough
to fill up a container. The estimated value of this donation is over a
million dollars. More
PUC Boss Explains Why Your Light Bill Will Soar 4 days after it sprung a 13% increase in
electricity rates on consumers, the PUC today held a press briefing to
explain its decision. Chairman Dr. Gilbert Canton, explained why light
bills continue to go up even when BEL gets a third of its power from
locally produced hydro electricity which is not affected by increasing
prices in petroleum. More
TOURISM INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION ASKS FOR GST ZERO RATING The Belize Tourism Industry Association
issued a release today saying
they do not accept exempt status under the General Sales Tax schedule.
We do not accept the exempt status because it is not an equitable
status for the hotel industry and the hotel sector to accept. In other
words with an exempt status what we are faced with is paying in the GST
but not receiving any credit at the end. So they are basically raise
our costs on our production and kind of created an unfair playing field
with not only the other sectors within our country but both regionally
and globally. It will increase our costs and make our products a lot
more expensive at the end of the day. The Belize Tourism Association as
well as the Belize Hotel Association. More
The bridge is
progressing rapidly and the completion date of January 31st is still
very possible. There will not be a booth in the middle of the bridge as
was previously stated. However, there will be posts placed in the
middle so as not to allow any large vehicles over. The posts will be
removable to allow vehicles across in case of fire or medical
emergencies. There will be two lanes for golf carts and two lanes for
pedestrians. This will end the long delays that occur during busy times

evening to sign and sell calendars. Gino will do the Motown music
for listening and dancing, we'll do the 50/50 again, Kristen will have
a food buffet available for a small cost to the customers and she will
