distinctiveness of language It's called "The Song of Kriol: A Grammar of
the Kriol
Language of
Belize" and this latest effort from the Bileez Kriol Projek is sure to
stir up discussion. Compiled through the collaborative efforts of
Belizeans and international linguist, Ken Decker, the book is designed
to reveal the inner workings of Kriol. According to local activist

English are as languages. MoreChief Justice Chides The Belize Times On Thursday an un-named columnist in The
Belize Times questioned the reversal of a decision by the Chief
Justice. As we reported, the CJ had first dismissed an application by
the attorney for Chamber of Commerce to grant judicial review for a
Cabinet decision, and then half an hour later, changed his ruling and

It's a grave characterization of the conduct and integrity of the Chief Justice and one the CJ has taken none too lightly. Thumb-Wrestling With Plantains Is Now an Optional Sport SIX years ago I received a call from a man
named Edwin Rodriguez, an
unemployed janitor. He had invented a plantain peeler and wanted to
know if I would like to see it. A few days later Mr. Rodriguez's
prototype arrived in the mail. It was carved from wood and painted
green and lemon yellow like a child's toy — and was otherwise the most
phallic cooking tool I'd ever seen. I quickly tucked it into my desk
drawer. More
