SAN PEDRO WEATHER DISCUSSION by Winston Panton (with
excerpts from the Regional Hurricane Center)

TODAY’S FORECAST

Unstable upper conditions are now invading the north
west Caribbean sea and Belize along with the brisk
easterly trades to produce isolated showers and
thundershowers.

San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the
next 24 hrs: Partly Cloudy skies and warm
temperatures. Winds of 10 to 25 kts. will blow from
the east to southeast. Isolated showers and
thundershowers will occur during the early morning and
late evening hours.

Marine Interests should continue to exercise caution
due to offshore winds in excess of 25 kts.

TROPICAL WEATHER DEVELOPMENT

TROPICAL STORM FRANKLIN WAS CENTERED NEAR 32.8N 68.8W
AT 27/0600 UTC... OR ABOUT 240 MILES/390 KM...WEST OF
BERMUDA. IT WAS MOVING NORTHWEST 5 KT. THE ESTIMATED
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE WAS 1002 MB. THE MAXIMUM
SUSTAINED WIND SPEED 35 KT WITH GUSTS 45 KT.

Western Caribbean:

THE MID-OCEANIC TROUGH SITS FROM THE SOUTHEASTERN
BAHAMAS THROUGH HAITI TO NORTHEASTERN HONDURAS...TRIGGERING THE SHOWERS IN CENTRAL AMERICA.

ISOLATED MODERATE TO LOCALLY STRONG SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS STRETCH FROM COSTA RICA TO BELIZE IN THE
GULF OF HONDURAS...AND JUST EAST OF NICARAGUA IN THE
OFFSHORE WATERS.

THE 76W/77W TROPICAL WAVE IS APPROACHING THIS AREA.
AFRICAN DUST AND DRY CONDITIONS ALOFT WILL COMBINE TO KEEP ALMOST ALL THE THUNDERSTORMS OVER LAND.

BROAD SURFACE LOW PRESSURE COVERS THE SOUTHWESTERN
CORNER OF THE AREA...FOLLOWING THE SURFACE ISOBARIC
PATTERN.

Central Caribbean:

25-30 KT WINDS WILL PERSIST TODAY AND AGAIN THROUGH
