| WEATHER July 28, 2005 (6:00 am) SAN PEDRO WEATHER DISCUSSION by Winston Panton (with excerpts from the Regional Hurricane Center) TODAY’S FORECAST Unstable upper conditions and African Dust over the Yucatan Peninsula and Belize along with the brisk easterly trades will continue to produce isolated showers and thundershowers and hazy skies. San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the next 24 hrs: Partly Cloudy skies and warm temperatures. Winds of 10 to 25 kts. will blow from the east. Isolated showers and thundershowers will occur during the early morning and late evening hours. Marine Interests should continue to exercise caution due to offshore winds in excess of 25 kts. TROPICAL WEATHER DEVELOPMENT NO SIGNIFICANT FEATURES OF TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE CARIBBEAN AND GULF OF MEXICO. TROPICAL STORM FRANKLIN WAS CENTERED NEAR 34.3N 69.4W...OR ABOUT 300 MILES/480 KM WEST-NORTHWEST OF BERMUDA...AT 28/0300 UTC (27/9:00 PM LOCAL) MOVING NORTH 5 KT. WITH MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WIND SPEED OF 45 KT AND GUSTS TO 55 KT. Western Caribbean: BROAD UPPER LEVEL ANTICYCLONIC FLOW COVERS THE AREA FROM 10N TO 20N BETWEEN 70W AND 80W. MIDDLE TO UPPER LEVEL CYCLONIC FLOW STRETCHES INTO THE NORTHWESTERN CORNER OF THE AREA FROM THE INVERTED TROUGH OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO. 25 TO 30 KT WINDS OVER THE SW CARIBBEAN. THE WINDS SHOULD DECREASE LATER IN THE WEEKEND Central Caribbean: MIDDLE TO UPPER LEVEL DRY AIR COVERS MOST OF THE AREA. Eastern Caribbean: MIDDLE TO UPPER LEVEL NORTHEASTERLY WIND FLOW IS PUSHING SOME UPPER LEVEL MOISTURE INTO THE EXTREME NORTHEASTERN CORNER AND UPPER LEVEL MOISTURE WITH SOME BITS OF ITCZ CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY ARE TRYING TO PUSH THEIR WAY INTO THE EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN CORNER.
