TROPICAL WEATHER DEVELOPMENT

THE CENTER OF CATEGORY FOUR HURRICANE DENNIS STORM AT
8 AM EDT...1200Z...THE EYE OF HURRICANE DENNIS WAS
LOCATED OVER WATER BY A NOAA RECONNAISSANCE PLANE NEAR
20.9N 79.5W...OR ABOUT 230 MILES...370 KM...SOUTHEAST
OF HAVANA CUBA.

A SOLID AREA OF NUMEROUS STRONG SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS
EXTENDS FROM 18.5N TO 21N BETWEEN 77.5W ALONG THE
CARIBBEAN SEA
SIDE OF THE EASTERN END OF CUBA AND 80W...AND
WITHIN 45 TO 60 NM ON EITHER SIDE OF THE LINE FROM
SOUTHWEST
OF JAMAICA NEAR 17N79W TO 19N76W TO THE ATLANTIC OCEAN
SIDE OF
EASTERN CUBA NEAR 21N75W. ANOTHER CELL OF STRONG
SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS IS JUST WEST OF THE SOUTHERN SHORES OF
ANDROS
ISLAND. IT IS EASILY POSSIBLE THAT SOME BANDS OF
RAINSHOWERS MAY
MOVE AROUND THE PERIPHERY OF THE CIRCULATION OF
DENNIS...SUCH
AS SOME OF THOSE THAT PASSED FROM THE CARIBBEAN SEA
TOWARD THE
BAHAMAS AND THE STRAITS OF FLORIDA DURING THE LATE
NIGHT AND
EARLY MORNING HOURS OF TODAY.

Weather conditions over the extreme North Western
Caribbean including Belize will become cloudy at times
later today Friday with the approach of Tropical Storm
Dennis. Then conditions will improve rapidly on
Saturday as Hurricane Dennis moves into the eastern
Gulf of Mexico

San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the
next 24 hrs: Winds westerly 5 to 15 kts. today and
southeasterly at less than 10 kts, on Saturday. Skies
will be cloudy at times with hot temperatures and
isolated showers.

North Western Caribbean:

CATEGORY FOUR HURRICANE DENNIS IS HUGGING THE EASTERN
COAST OF THE CARIBBEAN SEA SIDE OF CUBA. NUMEROUS
STRONG SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BEEN GENERATED
AND IN GENERAL NOW COVER THE AREA FROM FROM 16N TO 24N
BETWEEN 74W AND 82W. THE AFFECTED COUNTRIES...AT LEAST
WITH RAIN...ARE CUBA...JAMAICA...THE CAYMAN
ISLANDS...PARTS OF THE BAHAMAS AND POSSIBLY HAITI.
BANDS OF RAIN AROUND THE NORTHERN PERIPHERY OF THE
CIRCULATION AROUND DENNIS ARE REACHING THE WATERS
SOUTH AND WEST OF ANDROS ISLANDS IN THE BAHAMAS AND
EVEN SOUTH FLORIDA EARLIER DURING THE LATE NIGHT AND
EARLY MORNING HOURS OF TODAY.

RESIDUAL SEA SWELL WILL BE ABOUT 8 FT AWAY FROM DENNIS
OVER THE NW CARIBBEAN FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT.
