| WEATHER August 7, 2005 (6:00 am) SAN PEDRO WEATHER DISCUSSION by Winston Panton (with excerpts from the Regional Hurricane Center) TODAY’S FORECAST Conditions over Belize and Northwest Caribbean will produce isolated showers and thundershowers which will be more frequent over southern Belize. San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the next 24 hrs: Partly cloudy and warm weather with isolated afternoon showers or thundershowers. Winds will be eastsoutheasterly at 5 to 15 kts . and occasionally gusting to 20 kts. Sea state will be light chop and choppy in the vicinity of the heavier showers. The outlook is for similar weather through Monday. Western Caribbean: MID/UPPER LOW DOMINATE THE WEATHER PICTURE OVER THE NW CARIBBEAN ELONGATED FROM NW TO SE NEAR 20N84W. STRONG NW CHANGING TO SW WINDS AT 75W COVER THE AREA W OF 67W WITH UPPER DIVERGENCE CAUSING WIDELY SCATTERED TSTMS S OF SAN ANDRES W OF 80W. CONTINUED STORMY WEATHER IS LIKELY OVER CENTRAL AMERICA ESPECIALLY S OF NICARAGUA AS UPPER TROUGHING REMAINS WITH PLENTY OF DIVERGENCE AIDING AFTERNOON CONVECTION. A STRONG LOW-LEVEL WIND MAXIMUM COULD CREATE ENHANCED WINDS IN THE GULF OF PAPAGAYO TOMORROW. Eastern Caribbean: MODERATE SUBSIDENCE IS KEEPING MOST SIGNIFICANT CONVECTION TO A MINIMUM WITH ONLY ISOLATED DIURNAL ACTIVITY EXPECTED OVER THE GREATER ANTILLES TODAY. MOISTURE SHOULD GENERALLY BE INCREASING THIS WEEK WITH THE LARGE AREA OF SHOWERS ASSOCIATED WITH AN APPROACHING TROPICAL WAVE. TROPICAL STORM DEVELOPMENT THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION NINE AT 07/0900 UTC WAS NEAR 19.6N 44.7W MOVING WNW 9 KT. THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1007 MB. THE MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WIND SPEED IS 30 KT WITH GUSTS TO 40 KT.
